the 10 little ladies

Good evening. It started out yesterday to be a nice evening out with my husband and daughter. We were all starving. We had a couple of errands to run so we stopped for dinner at Steak and Shake. Ya know the one at 635/McArthur? at 645-745 pm. WERE YOU THERE?
Anyway....as the story goes....we were perusing our menu's when the table of 10 women age range of 23-70, with a very young lady of 10 years old. I can tell you one their names was Cathy.
So...I am sitting with a Vietnam Marine, a outspoken college student and we are listening, of course for our enjoyment, to the "ladies" speak about how they protested the war in college (the vietnam war.) How they thought they were so "cute" protesting. Then one says...after all that crap of protesting, she actually married one of "them" a US SERVICE MEMBER that came home from Vietnam, crying. She said she listened to his "sob story" and actually cried with him for a short time. She said...I wonder why I was so stupid to listen to him...and the conversation lead to other things, such as those poor folks that get their hand me downs at the local church, and how it was so horrible to have to go pick up the clothes the consignment shop that did not sell...and on and on.
At this point, I am facing the "ladies", I use the term loosely by now. I am sure I am glowering at them. I did real well and did not mouth off. We even left at the same time, they going to take in a movie this evening. I wanted to say something, you know the Marine was still sitting there. The response was....I fought that war so they would have the freedom of speech. Sad isnt it?
It made me regret they were US citizens.....the 10 little ladies.
