Hello folks, it is that time again...no not the female time thing. The Thanksgiving time. Early?? No. Everyday is thanksgiving day. You woke up didnt you? You have a roof over your head? food in your belly? Most of us have a car.
There are other things too. Like small goals for your day. I had 2 today. one was getting my insurance/cafeteria plan. done. the other to get my lists out to my vendors. done.
I had a bigger one that I was stuck on. Maddie. What to do. Irving passed a law that would essentially mean we had a couple of options. A-Move. B-ask the landlord(we rent) if we can make changes to the existing fence, (most would really freak out at that idea.) or c-quit my job to stay home with the dog. (is she really a dog or an emo with fur??) or d-euthanize her. You see Maddie was the next door neighbors dog. They had gotten stuck in New Mexico and Maddie was out of food, so she jumped the fence. (AKA--JUMPER). The pound eventually picked her up. We got her from the pound for our neighbors one hour before her euthanization time. We brought her home, told the neighbors...we got maddie for you. We were told by the lady that it was his dog and they had broken up. I asked her for his or if would call and she flat out refused. So now we have had Maddie, our person with fur since the first Friday in January.
We tend to treat our dogs as our friends and family. They are spoiled. Scamp sleeps with us or my daughter. Maddie comes in everynight, gets fresh food and water twice a day. she did have a 30 foot cable until the Irving City Council decided that any dog tied up with out it's owner staring at it in front of the dog, was an irresponsible dog owner. You will be fined 2000.00/day if you are not in front of your dog.
So...we hemmed and hawed. (Yes...like in who moved the cheese book.) We kept to ourselves pretty much, almost afraid to discuss it and come to a conclusion. I cried at work Friday after the vote. I did not want to give up Maddie. I felt that the city I had lived in for 10 years had really let me down.
After my husband told our landlord that we had been on TV (irving cable) and also the Dallas Morning News (2nd page November 2nd), he explained he had two choices now due to the city...move and keep Cass and I, or stay, put maddie down and really pisse off Cass and I. We had been renting from her for about 10 years. I think I was late one time. Anyway we are in a nice little rental home. Been here about 1.5 years. It was built in 1955.
I get this call this week from Rob. The owner is coming by with his helper and they are going to look at the back yard. The wonderful soul built up the fence about 3 feet all around the back yard...THE WHOLE YARD. It is about 7 feet tall now. I do not think she can get out. So..there I am most Thankful this week. I see it as an HP thing. (not hewlett packard folks!)
So there are many things to be thankful for, small and large. Maddie is safe now, but is our back yard safe from Maddie? We shall see.
Thanks for reading this far.
